Voter Registration: Ohio Election Day

Election Day, the day Ohio voters vote for their preferred candidate, to represent them in the upcoming years, is a time when every vote matters. Registering to vote is the first step in making your voice heard. In Ohio, there are several ways to register to vote, including online, by mail, or in person. The deadline to register to vote in Ohio is 30 days before the election but you should register as soon as possible to ensure that your registration is processed in time.

Registering Online

To register to vote online, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on or before the next election, and a resident of Ohio. You will need to provide your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number. You also need a valid Ohio driver's license or state ID card. Registering by Mail

You can also register to vote by mail by completing a voter registration form. To obtain a form, visit your local board of elections office or download one from the Ohio Secretary of State's website: https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/register-to-vote/. Once you have completed the form, mail it to your local board of elections office. Your registration must be postmarked by the deadline to register to vote.

Registering in Person

You can also register to vote in person at your local board of elections office. You will need to provide the same information as you would if you were registering online or by mail. Election Day Registration

If you miss the deadline to register to vote, you can still register on Election Day at your polling place. However, you will need to provide proof of residency, such as a utility bill or a bank statement. Voting on Election Day

On Election Day, you can vote at your assigned polling place. The polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. You will need to bring a valid form of identification with you, such as a driver's license or a state ID card.
