McGinn faces up to 'chaotic' defeat

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has admitted that his team were "chaotic" in their Europa Conference League semi-final first-leg defeat to Olympiakos on Thursday night.

The Greek side stunned Villa with a 4-2 victory at the Karaiskakis Stadium, leaving the Premier League side with a mountain to climb in the second leg next week.

McGinn said: "We were chaotic. We didn't stick to the game plan and we paid the price. We need to be better in the second leg."

Villa stunned by Olympiakos

Villa took the lead through Ollie Watkins in the first half, but Olympiakos hit back with four goals in the second half to take a commanding lead into the second leg.

The Greek side were clinical in front of goal, with Cedric Bakambu, Giorgos Masouras, Youssef El-Arabi and Pape Cisse all finding the net.

Villa were left to rue a number of missed chances, with Emiliano Buendia and Philippe Coutinho both hitting the woodwork.

The second leg will be played at Villa Park next Thursday, with Villa needing to win by at least three goals to reach the final.
